We want to start out by saying that you can come dressed in any attire and still be able to get your open upright MRI performed. We have gowns and scrub pants to change into if needed for your open MRI. So, if you happen to be coming from work, you don’t have to be concerned with bringing clothes with you. However, if you are coming from home and do not want to have to change when you get here, we suggest that you wear clothes that have no metal. Some people dress as if they are going to the gym. That is a very good example of how you can dress and be comfortable and compatible with the open upright MRI.
Things to consider with an upright MRI exam:
- Ladies can wear an elastic sports bra with no underwire or hooks.
- Sometimes, clothes that are taken to the dry cleaners may still have staples in the tags. Be sure to check for them.
- It’s also a good idea to leave your jewelry at home. You will need to remove it before your open upright MRI anyway, so if you don’t wear it, you don’t have to worry about it.
- We provide lockers to lock up your valuables, so if you do have on jewelry, you can lock it up. You will definitely want to put your watch, credit cards, keys, phone and hearing aids in the locker because these items can be rendered useless in a strong magnetic field.
We hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions about anything that can or cannot be taken into the magnet, be sure to call us at 205-871-3335. We will be glad to answer your questions.
